巴西考虑以玉米为原料生产乙醇

考虑到生物燃料的能效以及环境质量，以甘蔗为原料生产乙醇的领先者--巴西可能不久将开始以能效更低的玉米为原料生产乙醇以吸收偏远地区过多的粮食。   　 玉米相关行业和政府指导委员会在周三举行了会议，指出已经委任巴西农牧业研究公司（Embrapa ）进行一项研究，着眼于研究在玉米生长州马托格罗索（ Mato Grosso）以玉米为原料生产乙醇的可能性。

  　  该委员会的建议是在当地生产更廉价的乙醇来发动汽车，降低农业设备成本以及给生产者的产品有可选择的渠道，尽管用于出口的话需要几百公里才能运到港口。
    　 de Sousa指出，在没有甘蔗为原料生产乙醇、甘蔗乙醇厂需要关闭长达几个月的情况下，可以考虑在一些甘蔗乙醇厂以玉米为原料生产乙醇。”
