巴西考虑以玉米为原料生产乙醇

考虑到生物燃料的能效以及环境质量，以甘蔗为原料生产乙醇的领先者--巴西可能不久将开始以能效更低的玉米为原料生产乙醇以吸收偏远地区过多的粮食。   　 玉米相关行业和政府指导委员会在周三举行了会议，指出已经委任巴西农牧业研究公司（Embrapa ）进行一项研究，着眼于研究在玉米生长州马托格罗索（ Mato Grosso）以玉米为原料生产乙醇的可能性。

    　他也指出，和甘蔗乙醇的巨大产量相比，玉米乙醇的数量可能是微小的。很多时候甘蔗乙醇单产较高，所能提供的能量超过种植甘蔗所需的。玉米生产乙醇的单产则较小。
